As you configure your extension, please remember to save your work before you exit any of the pages!
The Temando Toolbar:
Everything you need is located in the Temando tab towards the top of the page.
Once you have signed in to your Magento backend (with the appropriate user restrictions), your first step is Configuration.
Go to: Temando > Configuration Settings > Temando Settings & Shipping Methods
- Sandbox: This allows you to connect your Magento plugin to either a test or live server. Meaning it will either be LIVE (Sandbox = No) or still on testing (Sandbox = Yes).
If the sandbox is disabled (set to no) then it must have live credentials to work. This is where you would input your personal/business client ID, login ID & password.

Payment Type: Select type (Account if on a Trade account)
Show Estimate Shipping on Product Page: Yes or No
NB: This feature, when enabled (Yes) will automatically place a shipping calculator on the product page.
Shipping Label Type:
Plain Paper: Standard A4 laser printer required
Thermal: For high volume processing where a thermal A6 printer is available. Generic label size 101x148mm.
No: No printing required
Error from Temando Processing:
If for any reason an error is generated from Temando you can choose to show the customer the error message or show a flat rate quote.
If Show Flat Rate is selected, enter the dollar amount in Flat Rate Value.
PHP stream timeout limit:
Here you can enter a number to define a longer PHP stream timeout limit in seconds (e.g. 300 would be 5 minutes) to prevent timeout error - 'Error Fetching HTTP headers'.
Please leave blank if you do not have any timeout issue.
- Show Delivery Options: If set to no, no extra options will be shown to the customer at the checkout. If set to yes, you can select yes/no against the delivery option/s you want to show your customer.
- Show Shipping Instructions:
Yes: enables a small 30-character text field on the checkout that allows the end customer to write a quick note that will be printed on the label Show Customer Comment
No: the field will not appear on the checkout
- Show ‘Deliver By’ Calendar
Yes: a calendar will appear on the checkout page. The customer can select the latest date they require their delivery by. This will filter quotes by Estimated Time of Arrival and only display applicable quotes.
No: the calendar will not appear on checkout.
- Allow PO Box Deliveries
Yes: Checks the street address for ‘PO Box’. If found, quotes for carriers allowed to deliver to PO Boxes will be generated.
No: Checks the street address for ‘PO Box’. If found, an error message will notify the customer they are unable to ship to a PO Box address. The error message is set by you in the text field that appears below the toggle.
This section gives you the ability to insure your items plus freight expenditures. This function allows you the following:
- Disabled: No insurance is provided
- Optional: Places a checkbox on the checkout page that allows the consumer to select
- Mandatory: The insurance is displayed at checkout and automatically adds the value to the total cart value.
Note: for both ‘Optional’ and ‘Mandatory’ insurance, you will be required to confirm the insurance Terms &Conditions. For more information on insurance, please visit www.temando.com.
Requires a value to be input against each product in Catalogue > Manage Products > click on a product > Temando > Value > Temando Packaging, select As Defined > enter value in the Value field > Click Save
You can add insurance from within a booking in the Manage Shipments grid.
Allowed Shipping Methods:
Use CTRL+ click to select multiple shipping methods. Select Temando and select from the list if also using another shipping form/carrier.
Temando Manage Shipments – Filters and Priorities:
Refers to the display in the Temando / Manage Shipments admin panel. The below features give you the ability to manage what is displayed in this panel – from what is shown; to what order/priority the orders are processed.
The ‘Order Status’ feature gives you the ability to filter what is displayed in Temando / Manage Shipments. To display multiple statuses, simply hold down CTRL and select the status that you do not want to be displayed.
NOTE: The selected statuses will NOT be displayed in Temando > Manage Shipments.
Temando managed Shipments - Urgency:
Same Day Carriers:
Any carrier/s selected will be flagged as Same Day in the Manage Shipments Grid. Selected carrier/s will be highlighted and prioritised (to the top) of the grid.

Show Business Address:
Including your business address on the pick-slip allows you to use the pick-slip in place of a separate order receipt.
Upload a custom logo to brand your pick-slip.
Anything larger than 270x270 px will result in distortion. We would tend to recommend smaller sizes as they will load faster and leave more room on the pick-slip - reducing the need for multiple pages for larger orders. Allowed file types are .jpg, .jpeg and .png.
Select the units of measurement and weight used for your catalog of products. Options are:
Note: the smallest unit of measure is 1.
Consolidation: Dictates whether or not you use Temando Packaging Optimisation Logic.
Use Magento: Use you’re the Manage Products area within Magento to store all your packaging.
Use Temando (Packaging Optimisation): requires you to have standard packaging for your business. The standard packaging also needs to be configured within your Temando Account. Once set up, Temando will use spatial mapping to designate the order to the most appropriate packaging and return quotes on these.
Packaging Optimisation example:
- Standard Box size of 30 x 30 x 30 (BOX A)
- Standard Box size of 20 x 20 x 20 (BOX B)
- Three items are bought, all with the dimensions 8 x 8 x 8
- By this logic, the Temando platform would quote on BOX B and would also parse this information back to the Temando Manage Shipments panel.

Note: Temando strongly suggests setting up all products with specific weights and dimensions (where applicable). The more accurate the data is, the more accurate the quote and relevant shipping cost will be.

Packaging / Fragile / Length / Width / Height: Make selection and input values to set a ‘default’ packaging type. This will be applied to any products that do not have defined packaging dimensions.

Shipping Methods is where we start to set filters on the available carriers via Temando. You will notice straight away that the drop-down menus in Shipping Methods have the following defaults:
Go to: Temando
This allows you to toggle between the plugin being active (Enabled - Yes) and inactive (Enabled - No).
Shipping to Applicable Countries:
All Allowed Countries – this will select Australia
Display Error Message: This text box allows you to create a message that is displayed when a Temando shipping method is not available (based on the country).
We recommend the following text:
Allowed Carriers: This is the first chance to select the carriers/freight providers that you would like to work with via Temando. To select more than one, hold down CTRL to select multiple.
Next to the main title: We have provided you with test credentials. To go live, enter your unique details.
Mode: Sandbox is used for testing.
Client ID: If you are unsure contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Login ID: The Login ID created when setting up your Temando.com profile.
Password: The password created when setting up your Temando.com profile.
Payment type: Account for those with a pre-approved Trade Account, otherwise select Credit.
Next to the main title: Defines the countries you are using Temando to ship from and to.
Mode: Select Allowed Countries to allow all enabled countries. Select Specific Countries to pick & choose (ensure Australia is selected).
Next to the main title: Allows you to specify which carriers you will receive quotes from.
Underneath the main title: please note you can only select carriers with (Bulk) next to the name if you have organised a permanent pickup through Temando.
Next to Allowed Carriers in the first box: Click the name of the carrier/s you want.
Next to the main title: This area relates to the unique packaging of your products.
Underneath the main title: Ensure you populate your Temando tab in the Magento Catalog section
Units: Corresponds to the numerical values entered against each of your products in the catalogue
Default Packaging: The default package you create will be used for a product if you have not pre-defined dimensions of a product in the Temando Tab of the Catalog section.
Next to Origin Location: Temando will return quotes based on the origin location address. Additional locations can be added in the Manage Warehouses tab.
Next to Shipping Rule: Create a shipping rule to customise the quotes displayed to your customers
Shipping Rate Type:
Dynamic – Allows carrier selection and display filter.
Flat Rate – One price for all shipments.
Free Shipping – No charge for all shipments.
Under Carriers- Select the carriers you would like the rule to use.
Want to get accurate shipping quotes for every order? Temando uses your product dimensions to virtually pack your shipments and generate your quotes accordingly. That’s why entering product dimensions is one of the most important parts of getting started with the extension. To input, your product details head on over to the Catalog tab in your admin panel and underneath it, click on Manage Products.
1. Click on a product to edit and from the left-hand navigation bar, click Temando (near the bottom).
2. Select ‘As Defined’ from the drop-down menu Enter a description for the product, as well as dimensions for height, length, width, and weight.
3. Repeat for all of your products, or get your developer to help you with data flow profiles to upload all of your product data in a .csv file.

Packaging Optimisation Logic:
Packaging optimisation logic consolidates your orders into your pre-determined standard packaging sizes to increase the efficiency of your pick and pack process.
Additionally, Temando will use your individual product dimensions in conjunction with your packaging sizes to determine the most appropriate package for your shipment.
In order to benefit from this logic, all you need to do is tell Temando the dimensions of your standard packaging.
1 Click on Custom Packaging under the Temando tab.
2. Add a package and populate the fields for details and dimensions as required.
When fulfilling orders, the custom package will be visible under Quotes and Packaging. There is also a dropdown list that can be used to manually override the packaging that is automatically selected (if you run out of a certain packaging type, for example).
Some products will require multiple boxes or cartons. The multi-pack feature gives you the ability to map out exactly what dimensions, weight and the total number of cartons are included as a total product.
To do so follow the below:
Set up Multiple Locations (Warehouses & Zones):
Shipping from multiple locations is a great way of spreading fulfillment demand as well as minimizing shipping costs. Temando’s Magento extension makes it easy to set up and ship from multiple locations by creating zones and warehouses.
Locations are broken into two facets that cannot exist without the other. These are Zones and Warehouses. For a Warehouse to be live, it must be associated with a zone(s).
Go to: Temando > Locations > Manage Warehouses & Manage Zones
This allows you the ability to create multiple zones, each linking to a Warehouse. You can have as many or as few warehouses as necessary.
Zones are areas within a country defined by a postcode range that any given warehouse delivers to. Each warehouse must have at least one warehouse assigned to it and zones may be serviced by multiple warehouses.
To set up a zone: Navigate to the Temando tab and under Locations, select Manage Zones & ‘Add New Zone’ to create the new zone. Make sure you enter a name for your zone (this is for internal use only)
Setting up a Zone:
Once you have selected Manage Zones from the Temando toolbar, you will be taken to the admin panel that shows all the available zones that have been configured. To create a new zone, select Add New Zone (see below).
Creating a zone is done by completing:
Name: Internal reference for that particular zone
Postal Code Ranges: enter individual postcodes, a range using a colon, and a comma to separate
Now that we have our zones set up, we need to assign them to the relevant warehouse(s).
Go to: Temando > Location > Manage Warehouses
Click ‘Add New Warehouse’ to complete the general information:
Once you have selected ‘Manage Warehouse’ from the Temando toolbar, you will be taken to the admin panel that shows all the available Warehouses that have been configured.
Select Add New Warehouse:
Name: Unique internal name relevant to this particular warehouse.
Status: Enable if you are currently sending from this warehouse or disable if you are not.
Company Name: XYZ
Location Type: Select Business, as you are always sending from a business location.
Priority: If you have 2 warehouses that service the same zone, this priority allows you to select which warehouse will be chosen. 0 is the highest priority and go up from there.
Stores: Select the online stores this warehouse applies to.
Address & Contact:
Complete all the required fields-
Zones: To select multiple zones hold CTRL + click to assign multiple zones.
Extra Location Information:
This information gives you the ability to provide as much information about the locations so that there are no assumptions. Toggle YES or NO as applicable.
Loading Facilities: Does the warehouse/location have the necessary loading facilities?
Dock: Does the warehouse/location have a dock?
Forklift: Does the warehouse/location have a forklift on site?
Label Type: Select Use System Configuration, unless it is different to what was selected in Temando / Configuration / Temando Settings / Options
Only applicable to users with sub-accounts with Temando. Leave as *Use System Configuration.
Assign which logins can view orders in the Manage Shipments grid for this warehouse.
